How this works
Under the old tax regime, a self-occupied home loan's interest can reduce taxable income by up to ₹2,00,000 a year (Section 24b), and principal repayment by up to ₹1,50,000 a year (Section 80C, shared with your other 80C investments). This multiplies whatever you're eligible for by your tax slab to estimate what that's actually worth.
